Welcome Back!

Hey guys, welcome back to the revamped version of The Foster Cookbook. When I started this I had no idea what I was going to put in here, but now, I do. I want this to be a blog that makes me happy, feel good, but also healthy. Since I am on a journey of my own to eat cleaner, get healthy and fit, I want to encourage a lot of people to do this as well.  First, let me just say, I am no health expert, by any means, this is advice I give from the health and nutrition classes I am taking.

But what does it mean to be healthy?

It's simple really. If everyone sat down and really looked, I mean really LOOK, at what they eat in one day-maybe a week, you would seriously be disgusted with what you're putting into your body.  All of the processed, prepackaged foods, the snacks...some of which we can't even pronounce what's in them. All of these are damaging our bodies and our metabolisms.

Being healthy means eating a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables, lean meats, good grains and starches, as well as dairy. I know that sometimes families have a hard time reaching these types of foods because of financial situations, I know that one pretty well. But by budgeting, and definitely couponing, you should be able to get a little bit of each food group on a great price!

What kinds of foods are "good foods?"

Trust me when I say that I asked this question A LOT! However, I've been keeping up with Blogilates trainer Cassey Ho and learning about all of the delicious foods that we SHOULD be eating. By taking out the junk food and adding in the good stuff you'll notice a major difference, not only in your body, but in your mood. Cassey's eBook Hot Body 8 Week Meal Guide shows you what types of food to be eating and also introducing meal plans that are easy to make and tastes great! The kinds of foods that are good are those that will give us energy as well as help us be full.

I love that her blog offers free printables, especially 10 Super Cheap Super Foods. These foods are good for the body, high in important nutrients and taste great!

I know what you're thinking; "but I don't want to give up the food I love to eat?" or "I love dessert so much I don't think I could do this." Don't worry, I am still having these doubts myself. However, it is all in the mind. If we keep telling ourselves that we can't, then we won't change. Good thing Cassey gives you great recipes, like Healthy Desserts. The first one you'll see on that page is Pumpkin Pie mugs! I am a HUGE lover of anything pumpkin spice in the fall and when I saw this I about died. So don't fret, you will still be able to have foods that taste great, are nutritious for you and easy and quick to make.

My Journey for You

Take this journey with me. Come see what kinds of recipes I will share from the books that I ordered. And don't forget, be positive, love yourself and if you have kids, definitely do this for them! Drink plenty of water throughout the day and try to exercise anywhere from 30-60 minutes 2-3 times a week. Your body, in the end, will thank you for it!
